It isn't often that I have been moved to tears by anything in this world. This is one of the very rare occasions. This is something everyone single one of you should sit down and watch. For ease of reading I have opted to forego adding color to this post.

Amanda Todd, a Vancouver-area teenager who posted a story to YouTube last month about being cyber-bullied, was found dead Wednesday night in Coquitlam, Canada. Authorities believe she committed suicide.

Amanda's video tells a heart-wrenching story of the bullying she was subjected to -- both online and off. "In 7th grade," she begins, sharing her message on cue cards (http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=vOHXGNx-E7E), "I would go with friends on webcam [to] meet and talk to new people." At one point, a stranger flattered her into flashing the camera.
One year later, a man contacted her on Facebook, threatening to send around the picture of her topless "if [she] don't put on a show." Terrifyingly, the stranger knew everything about her: her address, school, friends, relatives, and the names of her family members. Soon, her naked photo had been forwarded "to everyone."

Amanda developed anxiety, depression, and anxiety disorders (http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=vOHXGNx-E7E), she says in the video, followed by a path into drugs and alcohol.
She changed schools and found a new group of friends in an effort to leave behind the bullies. Then the man created a Facebook profile, using her uncensored photo as his profile picture. "Cried every night, lost all my friends and respect people had for me... again... then nobody liked me," she wrote in the video.


This girl lived about an hour from me. I never saw this video until it was too late. Maybe if more people had been aware of what was happening it could have had a different ending. As it stands, she died alone, afraid, and hating herself. If you're being bullied at school or at home or online, stand up and make noise. Make all the noise in the world until someone hears you. You're not alone and you don't have to be.

nah, i think osi is a salty basser, but can relate to bullying. i was picked on when i was a kid, my soloution was to fight, but that doesn't work if your bullys are substantially bigger than you. osi's right, make some noise. even if you shout out here, there are responsible adults here who can help you find some help in your area (the benefits of an international community) and be resource for you to lean on.

I'll be completely honest, that girl's story completely broke my heart. I'm not ashamed to have a heart to be broken.

True story. Make as much fucking noise as you can. Make noise here, make noise on facebook, make noise on youtube. Make noise until somebody listens. This sort of bullshit never has to happen. There are helplines that are open 24/7, first post has been updated with a few places people can check out if they need it.

I feel bad. What she has gone through, that's crazy. And I don't know what's worse - knowing that there are crazy men enjoying to suck out the dignity of girls and young women or that the dynamics of society neglecting the person and personality of girls and young women ascends to become a burden; this applies not only for girls and young women, but for everyone being the target of bullying ... Suicide is not what Amanda Todd did; actually she was murdered in my humble opinion. And responsibility is not only to be taken by a single madman, but by all of the people who supported this kind of shit ...

I second that opinion... Garbage that will harm a child in any fashion doesn't need a comfortable cell on the tax payers dime or counciling. They need to no longer exist

If that guy goes in I can't help but worry someone will slip a knife into him in under a month. I'd prefer for him to die in a slower, more humiliating and painful way.
I'm no champion for Anonymous, the very nature of the organisation leads to set moral standards or aims, but for this they have my thanks.

I have been following this story on FB. I heard tale anon got the wrong guy at first (no apologies needed, still a pedo low life) but they got on the right scent again and scent explicit details ONLY to the police... Glad to see that decent people see the need for compassion and feeling here. Get's disgusting to see some of the inhuman responses out there.
