Sorry, I'm super jacked on pills, partially delirious and going a bit nuts. But seriously... check this game out! It looks hysterical.

Sweeet. Nice find.

You need the ArmA II Combined Arms pack to run it. $29.99 on Steam...

Install guide here. (http://www.dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=2421) Instructions include Steam.

I checked Can You Run It? (http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri/) and according to that, I fail the check for video card but pass all the individual card requirements. O_o I'm DLing the demo now just to be sure. I've run many games before that theoretically, I shouldn't have been able to. If I can after all, I'll buy and be on TONIGHT.

It seems sort of MMOish and I've said that the only MMO I would play would be a Zombie MMO. This looks like it's full of win.

Yeah, I haven't checked my hardware compatability out yet... I'm going to guess that my POS can't even handle flash games anymore. :(

This game reminds me of BF2 (battlefield 2) for some reason.

I laughed through the entire 'demo'. Those guys were funny as hell.

Whelp. That was a slight disappointment. It was a slide show with horrible motion blur that rendered the player uncontrollable and the game unplayable. I got as far as as talking to a trainer in basic and tried to pick up a rifle on a box. *sadface*
Wasn't really expecting much on a CQ56-115dx with Han Solo like upgrades. Damn thing won't even recognize my Fang ZBoard anymore either. Stupid laptop.

At least with the demo, I saved $30.

I can run the Steam engine just fine though. Just need to find a GOOD HL2 MP Zombie mod.

Shitty. It looked like it would be entertaining for an hour or two at least.

Not sure if Steam gives you some kind of exclusive if you get it from them, but it's up on Amazon for 14.99

Can't run it anyway, but thanks.
If my $$ suddenly and magically changes, I'll be sure to look into it at Amazon.

:( Why can't they make games that run? Stupid Steam engine. I was totally into the idea.

It's not really Steam on my machine though. I can run a bunch of Steam Engine games like HL2/ep1/ep2 and Portal brilliantly... It just seems that ArmA 2 is excessively demanding on my electronic abacus excuse of a laptop.

I've tried a MP online zombie HL2 mod... but I don't remember which one, or being too impressed. If I had the skills, I'd already be working on a We're Alive HL2 mod.
Between SMOD, SMOD Tactical, GMod and the massive HL2 mod community, all the tools are there.

Man, I haven't played any steam games since CS 1.5 and that was amazeballz. Well, I guess L4D counts too... loved the shit out of that game. Never played L4D2 though. I should.

You guys do realize that just because this game is on Steam, doesn't mean it's made by Valve right? Steam is just the platform that the game is distributed and was not actually released by Valve. :P
I have the retail version of this game and have been playing DayZ for about 4 weeks now. It's great fun and have been meaning to make a thread about it here on the forums to see if anyone else is playing.

I did see a guy named Saul in game, not sure if it was a coincidence or not though.

Of course. Though there can be a difference between running the retail version vs. through the steam client. However, my experience with the demo through the client leads me to believe that the retail version won't be much different

Well I have my retail copy that I purchased and it runs fine. I also added a shortcut for it into Steam so I can launch it with Steam and also using the Steam overlay so I can chat to friends during my game, they can see what I'm playing and so that most importantly I can see the time in the overlay. I tend to game at night when I should be in bed because I work all the time lol. I can tell you that launching the game outside of Steam and launching it in Steam with the overlay, etc. there is no difference in performance.

Just because it is a Steam Engine game does not mean all Steam Engine games should run on your computer.

An entire continent is essentially being loaded up at the exact same time, which will take a toll on your computer. I've been watching SideStrafe and Krapp (2 different users) playing this game.

That's the thing, it's not using any engine from Steam. Steam is merely the distribution platform. It's a game made by Bohemia Interactive studio using Real Virtuality http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Real_Virtuality_%28game_engine%29
What you're essentially doing is using Steam to launch the executable within the Arma2 game folder. It allows you to access the Steam overlay and community whilst in game. :P

Loved this haha, these games are great when you have people who get into it. I'll have to go rebuy L4D2
