I'll be revisiting the entire podcast till it comes back for it's 3rd season and decided while I'm listening to each Chapter, I'll create a minimalist poster for each. This will be fun project for me :)

This podcast is a true inspiration.

I did the old cover art... and YES, I encourage replacing them. When we started I had to do that too. Let's just say I'm glad that's over... So Please, Replace away ;)

They are beautiful :) but are you sure you wanna go in this 'artsy' kind of direction? Seems to be what everybody else is doing. I admire the decision to use the current artwork because it's graphic and it really catches your eye. So do these, but the others are so gorgeously detailed it tells a story in itself.

but isn't that the point of the minimalist concept? i like minimalist art because it's simple, and it says it. not minimalist abstract (a black dot on a 12X12 foot white canvas is not art, no matter how much you tell me that it represents the struggle of a single black woman in a white mans world. it's just political cop-out bs) but i love things simple. the highly detailed artwork is great, and i really enjoy it specifically for the reason you mentioned, that it tells the story, but i love the minimalist work because it focus more on the concept of the chapter. it doesn't tell the story, instead it gives the impression of story. it focuses on the idea of story, and that's something i like. minimalist is really hard to do because it requires a lot of thought to not just seem lazy.

I like the yellow brick road leading into an emerald wall for chapter 18, very clever.

Chapter 19 has Michael's now iconic shovel over the Broken Arrow. The arrow is a nice symbolism for Marcus's little speech to Michael about the "good of the many". Old Roman metaphor was that the individual arrow snapped easily, but many arrows together would not break

that is actually the principle behind fascism. the fasces was a bundle of rods tied around an axe handle and was not only the symbol of the roman magistrates authority, but was also carried for use in corporal and capital punishment. what led to it symbolizing fascism was the symbology of the leader as the axe with the rods held tight to support. it is, of course, the same principle marcus spoke of and was the ideological standing of the colony until gatekeeper overthrew the standing power. it is now most likely a dictatorship, the key differences being perception: in fascism the leader strives (in theory) to make everyone feel important to the goals of the state to help instill a sense of nationalism and commitment to the standing regime, while in a dictatorship the leader drops all pretense of making the masses feel important and rules through fear.

The first thing I did was the 2 tanks of air. Very simple concept, then re-listened to chapter again and again and again, and tried to get the idea of "breath" out. All of sudden I place my hand on my chest and started breathing to get some type of inspiration. Then it hit me, you use lungs to breath and everything fell into place with cracks and holes they find.

you know, i haven't been on here to rave and rant in quite awhile, so, i'd say it's time to gush again. abay, bro, i love your work, there can be no doubt that i have made this clear in the past, but dude, this is, without a boubt, my favorite work yet. i love the prison look to the walls and gate, like they're trapped, but what keeps them in isn't the walls, it's the horde assembling in the distance, and that may be a horde, or it may be the distant irwin crew. also with the walls, i like the prison look because of the recently departed maller, it was a prison run by prisoners. i like the imposing and rising tower in the distance which turns into a knife, on the tip of which hangs the world. i also love the cool dark colors with the splash of red up top like a spatter of blood on a billboard (how the blood got on the billboard, i don't know). so, now i have to ask, what is it that you were going for in the design? i love picking the brain of the creator to understand the background that went into it.
