Apart from the Pokemon games Nintendo has done nothing for me in terms of gaming.

It's SUCH A HORRIBLE NAME.
With that said-- I'm actually quite excited for what is in store. Regardless, Smash Bros. is going to be on both the 3DS and Wii U, so no matter what, I'll buy each of them.

They couldn't get a working console prototype ready for E3 because they spent months and millions of dollars researching the best possible console name.
Then apparently they took the resulting report, burned it, and peed on the ashes. I'm right there with AdrianHD, such a horrible, horrible name. But how will this work? The new Wii U comes out in 2012, followed by the new MS and Sony consoles in 2015. So yet again Nintendo will be behind the curve and most likely losing out on big name releases because their tech is outdated.

Meh. So the footage was from other platforms. I get it. You've seen one 1080p reel, you've seen 'em all. Though a game like Uncharted always dazzles me when seen on any TV 180hz or higher. The controller is still a rock ass innovation, just as the Wiimote/Wii was. I think that Nintendo needs to follow thier systems release with some great titles. The franchise favorites, Zelda, Mario, etc. won't be enough. It's the same reason I'm waiting a long while before I get a 3DS; what games will be available that are worth making the investment?

You are very right that this could be an amazing console. I really am looking forward to more asymmetric gameplay.
However, when they decided to show a "demo reel", I don't think they should have fudged on the system. It's just frankly a cheap move. Maybe the developers of the games signed off that their footage could be used from another system, but if I was Sony or Microsoft, I would be pissed that my system is being the one to promote the next generation of the opponent.

Happens a lot of times. Even sometimes, if the demo is pre-recorded, the person will be holding a PS3 controller but it'll be running on a 360. I forget which game that happened to.

Also, I got to mention: I DO like the controller, but the circle pads annoy me and the fact that the right circle pad is above the buttons is supremely annoying.

They could do some cool stuff with Controller/pad . A motion tracker in aliens colonial marines, but not every game is going to use it very well. And it becomes an add on gimmick. With no system specs and a sometime next year release, this seems rushed. Without Development time and program testing, this games are gonna end up being bargain bin junk like 95% of the current WII "games"

My wife played the heck out of Pokemon Snap. And now, she owns several cameras. I can only imagine what a sequel to that game would do in this day and age.

Think of all the food eating sims they can do on the plate controller.

Nintendo is good at the classic gaming. They need to stop creating crappy games to go with their crappy systems and make something simple. The Gamecube was awesome and they weren't trying to do anything special with it like the whole exercise and motion obsession they have now. Make a simple system with good games that aren't trying to be special. There are way too many shooters out there, and the Wii can't handle that. So they need to make different form of games that better suit them. But unfortunately for the Wii, most of the games that would suit it suck. They're just digging themselves into a whole, and the only think that's keeping it from caving in is Kirby, Zelda, and Mario. But I'm afraid they're going to just rape those trying to promote their systems too.

i am glad that they are adding more "Hardcore" games like Batman:AA and Assassin's Creed. but why make an iPad/Wii controller? but i do want to see it one day run GTA5.

I've never been much of a console fan. Give me a PC any day.
Both the value and performance are higher when spending a little above average. The only advantage to consoles really is casual gaming like Mario Party or Super Smash. Hence why I got a Wii ala cheapo, second hand. I can write a whole essay on this matter, but I won't bore you with that right now. ;)
You won't see me lining up for this thing, nor the new XBox and PS that'll probably arrive in the near future (say holiday season 2012).

The Wii U will be around Holiday 2012. The new Xbox of PS4 won't be coming until I'm guessing 2014.
Also, PCs blow, play a 360...
I joke... kinda. =P

The PS Vita is sounding pretty good. This thing is a more advanced version of the WII Plate controller and gonna be portable. The WII Plate controller wont run anything without the WII U turned on. The PS3 and Vita has some very cool options going. Wonder when MicroSoft is gonna get in on this? Can't wait for 3rd gen software " WII U Plate Spinner or WII U Plate of Chit " , cool only gonna be $400 also.

I hope Microsoft stays out of the portable gaming market; they stay focused on regular gaming and we'll keep getting great games. Nintendo should learn some stuff about mobile technology from Sony, and Sony definitely needs to learn how to market and what to use on its portable platform from Nintendo.
As for PC gaming, I tread ever so lightly when I play a PC game, because they're TOO addictive and I would never get any sleep if I played that stuff.
