View Full Version : Is there a queen zombie?

Well, we see that the zombies have insect-like habits, as Michael & Angel realized. They drag their dead back to a hive, they swarm on their prey, and they have different ranks for different jobs. Many insect colonies have workers, scouts, soldiers, a king, and a large queen. We see that ink is a leader, but there has been a huge zombie roar that is heard at certain times. My question, is there an ultimate queen zombie like in the movie "Aliens"? Or is ink just the ultimate leader?

I think Ink/The Tattooed one would be the 'Ultimate' leader for that area or the state. Mainly because infection can spread from any zombie, therefore they don't need a main queen to make any more of them. I don't think there is a grand leader for all of the zombies because the world is just too large for communication to spread from one leader to all of it's minions.

IAm says it pretty well. Queens in an insect colony have no real power. They too are specialized for a particular task, in this case it is reproduction.
Ants make decisions as a collaborative. Typically by smell and outside influences. I don't mean to sound like "I know" they don't have a queen but from the information we have so far... no queen... unless the infection is a bug and each body has a queen and secretes eggs, for the next infection. But that is headed in another direction from where you were headed Rock.

Thanks for the input teeth! I really like your idea. Everyone's thinking a virus... Parasites are so creepy and haven't been done a lot lately.

maybe they need to catch one and dissect a zombie to find out the differences?

You never know. They have Tanya now. They may find out some new info. (fingers crossed)

Oh yeah... Didn't you say that on one of the previous theory boards, Crowbar? I like it!
As for my theory, I still think there is a mystery zombie, higher up than ink.

Your theory would tie into my Hive mentality theory then... I'd think you'd see a greater concentration of Behemoths around an Alpha creature.

During the live gig, KC said "There's a reason they do the things they do...."
To these ears, that sounds like "Engineering"

engineering is a solid theory. i also think this outbreak is a test, or was one until it went wrong or got out of control...engineering has a much more sinister tone-nice

That's a cool theory Crowbar. However, I believe MGS already overdid the nanites just a mite :p
As for the queen, I doubt it. Unless...
Actually, come to think of it, there might be a sort of queen that injects the regular zombies with hormones or steroids or some such (bear with me, I was terrible at biology and chemistry) causing these mutations (Behemoths, Fast Ones, Jumpers etc.)

Yeeeaah. See, it doesn't have to be a queen that lays eggs, just the zombie version of it.

That's an interesting idea, but I don't think there was a queen per se.
I think if this was an engineered thing, then they would have several types of zombies in a lab, and they mutated to some extent once the epidemic happened. For example, there wouldn't be any hard-core experiments on children, but the Little Ones (if they ARE children) may be a mutation when a normal zombie bites a child or small person. Behemoths may come from if one type of zombie infects a male (or female) who uses stereroids, etc.

That's an interesting idea. Makes me realize that most of the zombies are male in my head. I've said it before and I'll say it again (just try to stop me) more bread crumbs of description KC, please!

Well, if you take into concideration that there might have been a Lab in the center of the city where experiments with genes or diseases might have taken place, Bio enginered zombies are a possiblity. But on the Queen Zombie topic, think of it as a bee hive or ant colony, the zombies are like the drones or scavengers, there must be a central intelegence telling them what to do. There might be a queen and then the queen has her lieutenants, or "officers" who work in the field carrying out her orders, like the man in the pin striped suit, aka the one with the markings.
I rest my case

Yes. This is what I'm thinking. I feel like there is a higher zombie authority than the man in the pin striped suit - aka "ink". But he is still obviously a high ranking son-of-a-biter. ;)

Engineering? hmm. yep, bio engineered insects that were in need of bigger malleable bodies.:)
Do you think they are building a Z stronghold? tunneling along with "personnel"? that would mean diggers and that is bad:(

Lizzy is the zombie queen.
They probably want her as their queen! Every time she goes out it seems like intelligent zombies are after her!
Examples:
Lady and the Tink: the first time we see them make a trap
Mark of the Beast: Second trap

You know, this is not a such a crazy thought. Seriously, maybe the zombies are looking for intelligent women... Lizzy was also on guard duty when Ink gained access to the tower. Maybe he's been looking for HER the whole time...

I've been holding off judgement of this concept for a while, but I'm gonna throw my two cents in now.
It falls one of two ways in my opinion: we discover the existence of a queen zombie and it cuts the balls off the character of The One With The Markings (towtm). if there is a queen, it almost certainly lessens the impact towtm has because it means he is less of a threat. Think of the borg in star trek. Its the prefect example. When they first appeared on the scene, they were totally unstoppable. But once we learn of the queen, the borg became less less scary and intimidating, but the queen became the biggest baddy of 2 different series.
OR
Towtm's character grows in depth and complexity and becomes like the killer in a slasher flick. No matter what you try to fight him with, he just keeps coming. He already has a hold on me every time he appears. When I heard about the trap being described I started to giggle because I knew he was coming.
So that's how I see it breaking down in either scenario. As of right now, I don't see a queen coming to light. There's nothing (aside from a couple of unidentified howls) to hint at the existence of another leader other than Towtm

Very interesting idea.
But if there was a queen I think she would have been at the arena. Unless she is locked away in a lab somewhere and Ink is just taking advantage of the situation.
I see the zombies as more military than hive--built around a command structure rather than a queen. They do have roles and leaders and never leave a man behind. If this is an experiment gone wrong makes since the scientists would have been trying to weaponize.

I know where you're coming from on the first point, but I have more than enough faith in KC and crew that they wouldn't kneecap everyone's favorite baddie. Think of something like Star Wars. The existence of the Emperor didn't really diminish the value of Darth Vader. The Emperor (The potential zombie queen) looks at the big picture and longer term goals while Vader (TOWTM) addresses specific missions.
Like you, I'm hesitant to believe in a zombie queen, but I don't see it relegating TOWTM to the dustbin. Rather, I'd be more inclined to view such an addition as a way of showing us more of the big picture.

I thought about Star Wars for my example, but I never found the Emperor to be as intimidating as Darth Vader. I realize that might be heresy, but I just never put Vader and the Emperor on the same level. That's why I went with the Borg and Star Trek. But I totally see why the Star Wars analogy works.
I too have faith in Kc and crew to make anything they introduce work within the story. I just don't know that there's a bigger picture beyond the discovery of the origins of the outbreak. Could I be wrong? Absolutely. That's why I try to not predict too far in the future with my blog. Waaaaaaaay too many possibilities. And this conversation, while a really cool look into what could be, is hard to put any solid predictions to it because there's really no evidence to support it right now.
But as soon as TOWTM is attacking someone and he gets called off, well...then there's some crow for me to munch on.

But still... If the colored one is in the arena killing the live prey for fun, who was that giant pile of dead bodies for??? The zombies gathered a huge stockpile of bodies, and then picked parts off and walked it away somewhere... or to someone more important! ;) Like a MASTER ZOMBIE. Sorry guys. I'm clinging onto this theory to the death. LOL

The pile of rotten flesh is/was for the regular creatures. Remember when Riley and Angel were hiding in it? They were there when creatures would come and break off bits and pieces to consume. Basically, they were hoarding.
